ROUND # 5 AND 6
24 and 25 October Pomposa Circuit - Pomposa (FE)

FIFTH AND LAST ROUND OF THE ITALIAN SUPERMOTO AND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OF ITALY IN POMPOSA

The last two tests of the Italian Supermoto championship took place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 in Pomposa. In this double appointment the Italian titles were decided.Team drivers Marco Malone and Fabio Mazzolai were both in the running for the Italian title S4 (on-road) Malone and S3 (under 24) Mazzolai.Malone tried in every way to overtake his direct opponent Kevin Vandi and he succeeded on three out of four occasions, unfortunately it was necessary for an opponent to interfere between the two to win the Italian title and this did not happen, and the title escaped for a handful of points.Unfortunately, the mistakes made during the season were fatal despite Malone and his Honda CRF450 always being faster than their rivals in all the races. Probably Marco less experience in this category than his opponent was fatal.Different speech for Fabio Mazzolai, supported by the Team since mid-season as regards the preparation of the engine, he was able to put into practice the speed that distinguishes him.In the lead during the last heat that would have consecrated him as champion, due to a fault in the front brake lever he slipped with 6 laps from the end, giving the first position to his direct opponent Pellattiero on a silver plate. Despite a spectacular comeback, lapping almost two seconds per lap faster than everyone else, he crossed the finish line attached to Pellattiero, this was not enough and the title was lost by just one point behind. The races of Teo Monticelli pilot of the team in the S1Gp were mixed, conditioned by a disastrous fall in the second heat on Saturday.Teo redeemed himself in the second heat on Sunday, showing what he is worth fighting with the Italian champion Elia Sammartin, preceding him across the finish line in third position. In the overall championship standings he finished fifth with 177 points, 7 points from the podium. The season ends with the regret of not being able to win an Italian title despite being within reach. We have however shown on the track that we have the best Hondas both in terms of speed and set-up throughout the championship. Thanks to the riders, the technicians and all the assistants, we will try again in 2021, we will surely be in front of the best, as always.
